REQUIREMENTS for National Prosecuting Authority:
Legal qualifications are required to serve as a prosecutor, such as an LLB. After completing your legal education, you should have at least four years of experience. Capability to act independently, professionally, accountability, and with credibility.
Independent or minimal supervision is required of the incumbent. The ability to prosecute effectively.
DUTIES:
Examine the dockets of cases. Conduct criminal proceedings and decide whether to institute them. Represent the State in all courts by drafting charge sheets and other documents. Conduct prosecutions on behalf of the state, including leading witnesses, cross-examining them, and speaking to the court. Ensure the smooth running of the office by performing general administrative tasks. Assist criminal justice partners in integrating partners, engaging communities, and satisfying customers. The National Prosecuting Authority’s Code of Conduct, Policies and Directives must be followed in all circumstances.

Application Notes
In order to apply, applicants must complete the Z83 form available from any Public Service Department or submit their application online at the DPSA website: https://www.dpsa.gov.za/newsroom/psvc/ (with detailed experience information). You will be disqualified if you fail to comply with this requirement. The Human Resources department will notify shortlisted candidates about submitting certified copies of qualifications and other relevant documents prior to the interview.
The SAQA must provide an evaluation report for foreign qualifications (only if they have been shortlisted). An applicant is responsible for obtaining an evaluation of foreign qualifications from SAQA and submitting proof (only if shortlisted). On/or before the closing date, all applications must reach the National Prosecuting Authority. There will be no acceptance or processing of late applications.
