W&RSETA Awards TUT Bursaries Valued More Than R8 M

Over R8.9 million has been awarded to Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Management Sciences by the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA).
Based on the Skills Development Act, W&RSETA was established in 2000 as a public entity to assist the wholesale and retail sectors (W&R) in developing their skills through the implementation of learning programmes, disbursement of grants, and monitoring of training and education, as described in the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP).
W&RSETA Awards TUT Bursaries

Prof. Edgar Nesamvuni, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences.
Dr Edgar Nesamvuni, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, said: “This is the largest fund that W&RSETA has ever provided for student funding. Our students are privileged to have such a valuable statutory body supporting them and allowing us to provide them with better support.”
These bursaries have a tremendous impact ona the community. In addition to helping students with their financial concerns, W&RSETA expects our students to engage in various impact activities while studying.
“Ultimately, we want them to succeed in their studies, to develop problem-solving skills, flexibility, adaptability, initiative, self-awareness, and resilience, all “skills” that graduates need to compete effectively on the job market today. As well as these important entrepreneurial skills, 100 students will benefit, each receiving R85 000 on average, according to Dr Nesamvuni.
