TUT Student Talent Gets a Glimpse of the World of Work at the Expo

TUT Student Talent Gets a Glimpse of the World of Work at the Expo. The Directorate of Cooperative Education of Tshwane University of Technology hosted a recent career Expo for students studying at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FoICT) and the Faculty of Humanities at TUT’s Soshanguve South Campus to meet future employers, gain insights into the working world and apply for graduate programs.

A number of companies from the tech industry participated in the Expo, including Huawei, Microsoft, BET Software, and TechEx Digital Solutions.

He explained that Huawei has previously partnered with TUT on many other ventures, so they thought it was appropriate to visit TUT and inform students about the latest opportunities available in the industry.

Huawei has a special interest in TUT students because some of our top performers come from this wonderful institution. These bright young minds need to be educated about Huawei and the opportunities available to them, as well as engaged at their level in order to better understand what Huawei does.”

 As part of Huawei’s underground plans, ICT-related courses at TUT will be eligible for internships and bursaries.

The students were excited to get a deeper understanding of the different industries, what they do, and what opportunities they have in those industries.  During the Expo, Maluleka Fulufhelo said the importance of career fairs should never be underestimated.

Expos provide a lot of information, they clarify certain student concerns and provide an opportunity to see what jobs are available in the market.”

Sebina from Microsoft explains the impact of Microsoft on the Tech Industry and the broader world of work to students. “This is an in-demand digital skill that connects people to opportunities in the digital economy.”
