The majority of the funds, according to ISRC General President Shepard Khoza, are currently being used to clear the debts of unfunded students as well as missing middle schoolers struggling to register due to debt.
Goal of the SRC
A goal of the SRC is to raise funds for those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and those who fall into the missing middle category that cannot afford to pay off their debts. Students unable to register because of debt will greatly benefit from the donation received from the Motsepe Foundation.” TUT student
More than 400 students will be able to repay their debts with the funds, Khoza said. In addition to addressing gender-based violence awareness campaigns, mental health challenges amongst students, and women empowerment programs, the remaining funds will be used to support other initiatives.
