TUT Management Meets With High Level NAFAS Delegation
The TUT executive team, featuring Mr. Theo Madurai (CFO), Dr. Azwitamisi Nthangeni (Executive Director: Student Affairs and Extracurricular Development), Mr. Jonas Magedi (Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor), and members of the Institutional Student Representative Council (ISRC), engaged in discussions centered on the readiness for the 2024 Academic Year, particularly from a student residence standpoint.
Mr. Khosa, outlining NSFAS’s short-term plan and long-term vision for student accommodation, expressed the organization’s commitment to collaborating with TUT. Their goal is to pilot a new approach that enhances the quality of NSFAS-funded student accommodation services, ensuring compliance with housing norms and standards established by the department in 2015. These standards encompass spatial, nutritional, and social considerations for students.
Acknowledging TUT as the largest contact University in the country, Mr. Khosa assured that the proposed changes would be implemented in a manner that avoids adverse effects on the student community. Both TUT Management and students emphasized the need for careful consideration to prevent any negative impact.
Conclusion
TUT and NSFAS affirmed their commitment to close collaboration, ensuring the smooth and successful implementation of the accommodation project in 2024.
