TUT Centre of Environmental Health Leverages Strong Customer Base. It has been lauded that the Centre of Environmental Health at Tshwane University of Technology has a strong customer base, which includes the Johannesburg Metropolitan City, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, the National Department of Health, Mogale City and many other municipalities.

We also offer Short Learning Programmes in Occupational Safety, Waste Management and Food Safety Management for Inspectors, as well as Air and Environmental Pollution Law.

Besides the SLPs, Prof Mudau explained that the centre also provides consulting services to industry and businesses. “We are now working on a book that addresses the environmental health challenges facing most municipalities,” she said.

He said it is pleasing to hear that the Centre works with industry and government to address societal challenges in the field of Environmental Health, while also ensuring the University is receiving third-stream income. Dr Papu-Zamxaka, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Engagement, has visited University Centres, Institutes, Technology Stations and Incubators (CITSIs).

“We are proud to say that the work here is in line with our positioning and that we exist to solve societal problems, rather than being monuments of privilege,” Dr Papu-Zamxaka added.
