The National Arts Council South Africa (NAC)

NAC South Africa is pleased to announce a new call for arts and culture applications for the next financial year 2023-2024 under the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP 4).

After COVID-19 impacted the heritage sector and cultural workers, the PESP is a special government initiative to create jobs for artists and creatives.

A key goal of PESP 4 is to provide economic stimulus to the creative and cultural sectors in order to create jobs.  We encourage applicants to develop projects that create employment opportunities in the sector and generate a multiplier effect beyond the sector.

In order to apply for funding, NAC is inviting individual artists, registered arts organizations, community arts centers and venues active in craft, dance, literature, multidisciplinary, music, theater, and visual arts to submit applications. It will be possible to support only one application per natural person (individual) as well as one application per juristic person (organization or corporation). Throughout the lifecycle of the project, projects should demonstrate sustainability.

Artists and cultural project applicants are encouraged to apply for all types of arts-related projects, including creation, composition, workshops, showcases, exhibitions, script writing, residencies, performances, and other arts-related activities.

It is encouraged you apply if your application offers content or training related to indigenous South African art forms or intellectual property.  Communities in which projects are implemented must demonstrate their value and impact.
