‘Beloved son’ Kiernan Forbes, killed walking to his car along with another man, is remembered by his parents
AKA, a top rap artist in South Africa, was shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban, his family said. He’s won multiple awards in South Africa, been nominated for Black Entertainment Television awards in the US, and he was once nominated for an MTV Europe award.
In a statement posted on AKA’s Twitter account, his parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, said that they were deeply saddened by the loss of their son. The love our son received was reciprocated by the love he gave.”

Two men were shot while walking from a restaurant to their car on Friday night.
Police said: “They were allegedly approached by two armed suspects who walked to them from across the street and shot the victims at close range.” The Durban city mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda, said Forbes will perform Friday night in a club.(South African rap artist AKA shot dead)
It is not known what motived the shooting, and police are investigating.
AKA’s murder was condemned by Beauty Dlulane, chair of a parliamentary arts and culture committee, as a “hit ”.
