Document Warehouse Controllers Posts: Department of Home Affairs (South Africa)

A National Pathway Management Network is being set up by the Department of Home Affairs in collaboration with Harambee and the Department of Employment and Labour. 16 unemployed youth will be employed as Document Warehouse Controllers for digitizing the department’s records in collaboration with Harambee.

As part of its efforts to improve service delivery, the DHA has begun digitizing over 350 million paper records.

Using fixed-term contracts, the DHA seeks to assist the Presidential Employment Stimulus program in creating jobs and achieving its strategic priorities.

Duties include: 

• Move records to storage after retrieving them.
• Records can be copied, scanned, and stored.
• Make sure the records are accurate and edit them if necessary.
• Records can be retrieved and stored according to request.
• Digital and physical records should be filed together.
• Reports should be prepared and submitted.

Role requirement

WHO CAN APPLY? 

• Citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 from South Africa.
• It is sufficient to have a Diploma in Documents and Records Management, Information Technology, or Computer Science.
• There are no criminal records.

The following documents must be presented if you have been shortlisted for further consideration:

• Copy of certified qualifications.
• Copy of certified identity document.

A suitability check will be performed on successful candidates (Citizenship, Credit, Criminal and Qualification Verification).

There will be a 3 year contract ending in May or June 2026 (roughly between May and June 2023). When the appointment is made, the project duration will be outlined in a contract.
