NGAP Lecturer Civil Technology Position Soshanguve North Campus

The Department of Technology and Vocational Education has 1X NGAP Lecturer Civil Technology position available at Soshanguve North Campus.

The New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) is a nationally funded programme that involves recruiting a new cohort of academics. The programme is transformative in nature and priority is given to designated candidates. Candidates must be 40 years and younger.

The Programme enables nGAP appointments to benefit from teaching and research development opportunities and requires the incumbent to register for their PhD or post-doctoral studies.

NGAP Lecturer Civil Technology Position Soshanguve North Campus

The successful candidate will participate in a 6-year comprehensive development and induction Programme, after which she/he will continue as a regular member of the academic staff at TUT.

To be eligible for selection for an nGAP post, applicants must meet the following criteria, specified by the university:

  • Show interest in becoming an academic
  • Obtained Master’s degree in Education with 70% pass average.
  • Be 40 years or younger
  • Show evidence of eligibility to undertake postgraduate study at the Doctoral level
  • Be willing to commit to placement at the appointing university for the full 6 years of the Programme
  • At least 80% of the position will be allocated to African, coloured, Indian South African citizens and  55% must be females

Key Performance Areas/ Core Functions

  • Teaching Civil technology and Engineering Graphics and Design;
  • Participation in research groups with particular emphasis of obtaining a Doctoral degree;
  • Liaising with industry and other stakeholders regarding collaborations, research and community projects with the supervision of a mentor;
  • Involvement in community engagement projects

 Minimum Requirements

Academic qualifications

  • Masters with 70% pass rate in Education with a clear specialization in Civil technology and Engineering Graphics and Design.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Technical education, Vocational Pedagogy, Civil technology skills related to civil services, construction and wood work.
