Brilliant pharmaceutical sciences lecturer receives Ubuntu Youth Award

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, presented the Ubuntu Youth Diplomacy Award to Nsovo Mayimele, lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Tshwane University of Technology. On 11 February 2023, the Ubuntu Awards were held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
At the awards ceremony, Minister Naledi Pandor, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, said: “I am honoured to shine a light on South Africans who have distinguished themselves in promoting our national interests, our talents, and values around the world as ambassadors of our country.”

As a way of celebrating excellence,Dr Pandor said that the awards represent the department’s dedication to excellence. At the event, the nominees and award recipients all showcased the meaning of ubuntu, an African philosophy that promotes compassion and community upliftment.
Throughout her career, Nsovo has provided healthcare, development, and policy services to South Africa as well as the global community.
As a champion of women’s health and access to healthcare, she has won numerous awards for her work. Various global platforms, including the World Health Organization, have acknowledged her voice and service.
In To address the inequalities in medicine access Africa experienced during the pandemic, Nsovo is currently working with NEPAD, the African Union’s Development Agency.
